Knitting pattern designer

Your stitches. Your colours. Your knitting pattern.

Draw a stitch chart, write the instructions and bring both together in a printable pattern. Separate tabs keep charts, writing, calculators, previews and saved designs easy to find.

Try the example without an account. Save online when you are ready.

See the pattern as you draw

Paint stitches in four yarn colours, add stitch symbols and follow a highlighted row. Use flat or in-the-round reading directions.

02

Keep the useful details together

Add yarn, needle size, gauge, written instructions and notes. The preview brings your chart, colour key and pattern information together.

Print, save and return later

Print your pattern, download a backup or save named designs in an archive. Sign in when you want an online archive and view-only sharing.

How it works

A small first project makes it easier to check every step before sharing your work.

Read the practical guides ↗
  1. 1

    Choose the chart size

Start with the stitch and row count, choose your colours and select whether you knit flat or in the round.

  2. 2

    Draw and write

Paint the chart and add the written instructions in their own tab. Charts and text are independent, so check that they agree.

  3. 3

    Preview, print and save

Check the colour key and notes in Preview & files. Print the pattern and download a backup before saving it in your archive.

An archive for every design you want to keep

Without an account, named designs stay in this browser’s archive. A free account adds an online archive of up to 50 patterns: reopen a design, edit it, save a copy or share a saved version. Shared pages and embeds are view-only. Stop sharing to disable the public link. Download a backup to keep a copy independent of the service.

A real tool. An isolated example.

This is sample content. Menu orders and editable QR changes are local simulations; no real orders, payments or hosted codes are created. The knitting example saves separately from your ordinary pattern.

THE REAL PATTERN DESIGNER

Make this Nordic pattern your own

Try a 32-stitch chart with stars, diamonds and ripples in the actual editor. Paint stitches, change the four yarn colours, add your own instructions and preview the printable pattern.

This is the real chart editor, preview, printing and calculators. Your example edits are saved in a separate browser slot and never replace your ordinary pattern. This sampler is a design starting point, not a tested garment pattern.

Good to know

Do I need an account to design or print?

No. The designer, calculators, printing and local archive work without sign-in. An account is useful for online saving and sharing.

Will a chart automatically write my instructions?

No. The chart and written instructions are separate. Check stitch counts, repeats and reading direction, and test your pattern before sharing it as a finished design.

How large can a chart be?

A chart supports up to 60 stitches and 80 rows, four yarn colours and the available stitch symbols. For a larger design, chart a repeat and explain how to repeat it in the written instructions.
